Firefighters Respond to Rutherglen Shop Blaze

More than 100 firefighters are engaged in efforts to control a fire at a shop located in Rutherglen.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reported that 22 appliances along with additional resources were dispatched to the incident at Baronald Street around 18:20 on Thursday.

In response to the fire, Baronald Street, Dalmarnock Road, and Farmeloan Road have been closed. The fire is believed to have originated in the basement of a Nisa convenience store situated on the ground floor of a four-storey tenement building.

The SFRS has issued a request for the public to avoid the area and for local residents to keep their windows closed.
