Murder Probe Underway After Man Dies in Pencoed Incident

A murder investigation is underway after a 58-year-old man died following an incident in Pencoed. A 26-year-old suspect is in custody, and police seek witnesses from the early hours of 28 February.

Murder Investigation Initiated

South Wales Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 58-year-old man after an incident in Pencoed, south Wales.

Emergency services responded to a call on Felindre Road in Pencoed during the early hours of Saturday, 28 February.

The man was transported to hospital in critical condition and later died.

A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody. Detectives have stated they are "not looking for anyone else at this time."

South Wales Police confirmed that the investigation is being treated as murder after the victim passed away in hospital on Tuesday. The Major Crime Investigations team is leading the inquiry.

The victim's family is receiving support from specially trained officers.

Appeal for Witnesses and Evidence

Officers are appealing to anyone who was near Felindre Road between midnight and 05:00 GMT on Saturday to come forward.

In particular, detectives wish to speak with two individuals believed to have walked along Felindre Road between 12:30 am and 05:00 am, who may be potential witnesses.

Motorists in the area during that time have been asked to review dashcam footage for any information that could assist the investigation.

Detective Inspector Graham Williams expressed gratitude to the local community for their assistance and provided reassurance:

"I would like to reassure the local community that we have somebody in custody and are not looking for anyone else at this time."
