Incident Near Birmingham Primary School

A man has been stabbed and a woman injured in an attack close to a primary school in Birmingham.

Emergency services, including firearms officers, responded to Bridge Road in Alum Rock, Birmingham, shortly after 12:00 GMT following reports of a man sustaining serious injuries.

Arrest and Investigation

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and is currently in police custody.

West Midlands Police reported that the woman's injuries are not life-threatening. The incident is contained, and officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

"We understand how deeply distressing and concerning this incident is and we will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to the community," Det Supt James Munro said.

Emergency Response

West Midlands Ambulance Service responded to multiple 999 calls reporting the stabbing.

"Crews arrived to find a man with serious injuries and administered advanced life support on scene," a spokesperson said.
"A second patient, a woman, was treated for less serious injuries."
