Man Jailed Following Major Cocaine Seizure
A man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison after authorities seized cocaine valued at £300,000 from a property in Aberdeen.
Ethan Kerr, aged 27, was apprehended after a police search at a residence on Persley Den View in the city led to the discovery of the drugs in April of last year.
Kerr admitted to being involved in the supply of the controlled substance.
During proceedings at the High Court in Edinburgh, Kerr received a prison sentence of five years and four months.
Details of the Case
At an earlier hearing, prosecutor Ross Price highlighted that the cocaine recovered was of high purity and could have been further adulterated to increase profits on the street.
The court was informed that Kerr had been assigned the task of assisting with the drugs delivered to the property after he accumulated debts.
He reportedly panicked and left the premises upon realizing the quantity of drugs was significantly larger than he had expected.
Defending counsel Lynsey Morgan stated that Kerr expressed deep remorse for his involvement.
Sentencing Remarks
In passing sentence, Lord Summers referenced Kerr's prior convictions related to drug offenses and the substantial amount of drugs found at the location.
"You are 27 and you have acquired a bad record since you first came to the attention of the courts in 2016."
The judge categorized Kerr's role as being at a "medium level" within the supply chain and noted that the sentence would have been longer if not for his guilty plea.
Police Statement
Detective Inspector John Pirie commented on the case, emphasizing the impact of drugs on communities and law enforcement's commitment to addressing such crimes.
"Drugs can have a devastating impact on our communities, and this result underlines our determination to getting these harmful substances off our streets and holding those involved in their supply accountable."
