Man Sentenced for Sexual Offences Against Two Teenagers
A man convicted of raping two teenagers has been sentenced to 10 years in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Alan Bryson-Sword, 49, formerly residing in Eyemouth, had denied multiple charges during a previous trial but was found guilty by a jury of three counts.
He sexually assaulted his first victim, who was 14 years old when the abuse started, on several occasions between September 2013 and August 2017. The assaults occurred at various locations in Dundee and Berwickshire, where he repeatedly raped the teenager.
His second victim, aged 17, was attacked in June 2023 at a residence in Berwickshire. Bryson-Sword pushed the teenager to the ground and raped him.
Defence and Sentencing Details
Defence solicitor advocate Ewen Roy addressed the court, stating:
"He recognises a lengthy sentence is inevitable given the jury's verdict and the serious nature of the charges."
Roy further noted that Bryson-Sword had a positive upbringing and maintained a "long, settled relationship" during adulthood. Additionally, he highlighted Bryson-Sword's good employment history and involvement in volunteer activities.
Presiding over the case, Judge John Morris KC ordered that Bryson-Sword be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely. The judge also issued non-harassment orders prohibiting him from contacting or attempting to contact his victims.
