Life Sentence for Religious Aggravated Crimes
John Ashby, aged 32, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 14 years for the religiously aggravated rape and assault of a Sikh woman.
On Tuesday, Ashby admitted to multiple charges including rape, robbery, intentional strangulation, and religiously aggravated assault. During the proceedings at Birmingham Crown Court, an incident occurred when a member of the public approached the dock and said to Ashby,
“sort your shit out”after which Ashby requested to see his barrister and altered his pleas approximately an hour later.
