Firefighters Respond to Major Fire at Edinburgh's Princes Street

A significant fire erupted in the early hours at a building located on Edinburgh's Princes Street.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the site near the old Debenhams building at approximately 02:50, deploying seven fire engines along with three specialist vehicles to manage the incident.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that operations to control the fire are still ongoing.

The blaze has caused disruptions to tram services in the vicinity, with trams currently operating on a partial route from Edinburgh Airport to the west end only.

Edinburgh Trams announced that tickets will be accepted by ScotRail for travel between Edinburgh Gateway and Edinburgh Waverley stations, as well as on Lothian bus services running between West End and Newhaven.

Lothian Buses reported that several of their routes have been diverted due to the incident.
