Firefighters Respond to Large Fire at Woodend Hospital
Fire crews have been actively working throughout the night to control a fire that erupted in a disused hospital building located in Aberdeen.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service reported that approximately 50 firefighters were deployed to the scene at Woodend Hospital after receiving the emergency call shortly before 21:50 on Monday.
Ongoing Emergency Response and Safety Measures
A spokesperson from the service indicated that emergency personnel would continue operations at the building on Eday Road "into Tuesday morning" and advised residents in the vicinity to keep their windows and doors closed due to the "large volumes of smoke" produced by the fire.
Details on Location and Police Advisory
NHS Grampian confirmed that the fire occurred in the Westholme building, which is situated approximately 60 metres from the nearest hospital building.
Police Scotland have issued a request for the public to avoid the area to facilitate emergency response efforts.
