Accidental Death Confirmed in Tenerife Balcony Fall
The death of Harrison Hanley, a young British tourist who fell from a balcony at an apartment complex in Tenerife, has been ruled accidental by a coroner.
Hanley, a 20-year-old swimming instructor from Liverpool, died on 25 April while vacationing at the Parque Santiago 2 complex in Playa de las Americas.
Liverpool Coroner Andre Rebello stated that Hanley "died instantly from his injuries" and emphasized that
"There is no evidence that this was anything but a tragic accident."
Details of the Incident
Coroner Rebello explained that Hanley
"suffered trauma from an unwitnessed fall from an internal balcony in the apartment block."The inquest revealed that Hanley, who lived on Eaton Road in West Derby, sustained multiple severe injuries due to the fall from height.
Tributes from School Community
A tribute was posted on the website of St Sebastian's RC Primary School in Fairfield, where Hanley was a former pupil. The message described him as "much-loved" and highlighted his vibrant personality.
The tribute read:
"Harrison had an infectious personality that lit up every room he walked into. He loved a challenge, he loved to laugh and he had a smile that made others smile too! His energy, his warmth and his incredible talent as an athlete made him someone you simply couldn't forget. Harrison truly lived out our school motto: 'Only my Best will do. Be kind to one another'. He showed kindness so naturally, gave his best so willingly and left a lasting impression on pupils and staff - past and present. The memories people hold of him are full of joy, admiration and gratitude for the time they shared with him."
Memorial Event
In memory of Hanley, balloons were released on Wednesday at Sefton Park Field, located directly in front of St Hilda's High School. This was followed by a walk around the park to honor his memory.
