Teenager Suffers Serious Injury in Barry Island Stabbing

A 17-year-old boy from Cardiff has had his leg amputated following a stabbing incident at Barry Island, according to police reports.

The attack occurred on the bank holiday of 25 May, resulting in a severe leg injury to the teenager.

Medical Treatment and Police Investigation

South Wales Police confirmed that the teenager was provided with critical care at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

An 18-year-old man from Cardiff was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remains on bail as investigations continue.

Severity of Injuries Confirmed

Detective Inspector Sarah Lee addressed the seriousness of the victim's condition.

"The extent and seriousness of the injury sustained by the teenage victim is absolutely devastating,"
"Understandably his family are distraught, and they have been assigned a specially trained family liaison officer for additional support."

Initially, police believed the injury was neither life-threatening nor life-changing; however, the teenager has since undergone a leg amputation.

Ongoing Investigation Efforts

Authorities are continuing to review hundreds of hours of CCTV footage and are actively tracing potential witnesses to gather further information.
