Iran Prepares Massive Attack on US Bases

Iran’s Nournews has cited a military source indicating that Iranian armed forces are set to launch a “massive” attack on U.S. army bases in the region imminently.

Power Cuts and Explosions Reported in Chabahar

According to Iran’s IRNA, power outages have been reported in Chabahar following accounts of explosions in the area.

Context of the Strikes

The strikes carried out tonight occur 24 hours after the United States launched attacks on more than 80 Iranian targets around the Strait of Hormuz. This followed the revocation of a temporary sanctions waiver allowing Tehran to export oil, a response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels on Tuesday.

Statements from NATO Summit and US Central Command

During the NATO summit in Ankara, it was declared that the ceasefire with Iran has ended.

U.S. Central Command confirmed the strikes via a post on X:

“At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.”

Further Strikes Following Iranian Attacks

The US military stated it is conducting another round of strikes after Iran attacked ships in the Strait of Hormuz a day earlier.

Simultaneously, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported explosions near Konarak and Chabahar. Iranian sources also indicated that air defenses were engaging ‘hostile targets’ near Bandar Abbas.

Political Developments

The new attacks occurred hours after former President Donald Trump declared that an interim agreement to end the war with Iran was “over.”
