Two men have appeared in court accused of involvement in serious organised crime following a series of police raids conducted in Scotland and Spain.

Scott Lawlor, aged 38, and Peter Hetherington, aged 39, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court where they made no plea during a private hearing.

Charges Against the Accused

Lawlor, who resides in Erskine, Renfrewshire, faces charges including assault to injury and two counts of conspiracy.

Hetherington, from Milton in Glasgow, is additionally charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Details of the Raids and Arrests

The court proceedings followed the arrest of 13 individuals during pre-dawn raids on Friday.

Law enforcement targeted properties in both Scotland and Spain as part of an investigation into a suspected drug trafficking network.

The joint operation between Scottish and Spanish authorities involved searches at locations in Bellshill, Glasgow, Gartcosh, Whitburn, Caldercruix, Cumbernauld, Coatbridge, Barcelona, and the Malaga area.

Additionally, officers in Turkey seized two plots of land and a villa valued at approximately €600,000 (£520,000), along with shares in a company.

In total, eight arrests were made in Scotland and five in Spain.

Court Decisions and Next Steps

Both Lawlor and Hetherington were committed for further examination by Sheriff Patrick Hughes.

Lawlor was remanded in custody, whereas Hetherington was granted bail.

Lawlor is scheduled to appear in court again within the next eight days, while Hetherington's next court date remains to be determined.
