The incident began on Tuesday when the attacker opened fire at a social security agency located in Petralona, wounding an employee in the leg, police confirmed.
Following the initial shooting, the suspect took a taxi to a courthouse in Ampelokipi, where four additional people were reportedly injured. After the shootings, the suspect fled the scene, leaving behind a shotgun, authorities reported.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. However, state broadcaster ERT News reported that the gunman scattered envelopes on the courthouse floor, claiming they contained explanations for his actions.
According to the broadcaster, the attacker, who is still at large, entered the buildings carrying a shotgun concealed beneath his coat.
Five victims—one man and four women—sustained injuries that are not life-threatening, ERT added.
