Man Charged in Connection with Robbie Lawlor Murder
A 47-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of Robbie Lawlor, which occurred in April 2020.
Jonathan Gill, who resides on Malahide Road in Clontarf, appeared before a High Court sitting in Dublin on Friday.
Robbie Lawlor, believed to have been involved in organised crime within the Republic of Ireland, was fatally shot outside a residence on Etna Drive in Ardoyne on 4 April 2020.
Details of Arrest and Court Proceedings
The court was informed that Mr. Gill was arrested by Gardaí (Irish police) on Thursday morning.
Detective Sergeant Franke Lambe, of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, stated that he met Gill at his home and presented him with the warrant for his arrest, which had been enforced by the High Court the previous day.
Following the arrest, Gill was taken to Clontarf Garda Station.
Lambe recounted that he asked Gill if he was aware of the nature of the offences, to which Gill responded that he was not.
Legal Rights and Custody
Judge Barry O'Donnell informed Gill of his right to obtain professional legal advice in both jurisdictions or to consent to his surrender to the UK.
"Yes,"
Gill replied when asked if he understood his rights.
Gill was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison in Dublin and is scheduled to appear in court again on 21 April.
