A man in his 20s, believed to be the passenger in the vehicle and connected to an earlier assault, has been arrested. Gardaí continue to search for the driver of the vehicle.
Earlier Assault and Initial Encounter
Earlier that day, shortly after 11:30, plain clothed gardaí on patrol in County Monaghan stopped and spoke with a man in his 20s. During this interaction, the man became violent and assaulted one of the officers before fleeing into nearby fields. Despite an ongoing search, he was not located at that time.

Shortly after 13:00, a garda patrol car on the R184 was rammed by a Northern Ireland registered Audi. Both occupants of the Audi fled the scene immediately. A search of the local area was initiated, resulting in the arrest of the passenger.
Description of Suspect and Injuries
The driver of the vehicle remains at large. Gardaí describe him as a man in his 20s, of medium height and build, wearing a dark grey tracksuit top and grey tracksuit bottoms.
Both gardaí in the patrol car—a man and a woman—were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for assessment of their injuries.

The search for the driver involves regional armed support units and the garda air support unit. Gardaí have requested that anyone with information regarding the incident contact them.
