Trump's Annual Health Assessment

Donald Trump's physician has confirmed that the US president is in "excellent health" following his annual medical examination.

In a memorandum issued by the White House on Friday, Captain Sean Barbabella stated that Trump, who will turn 80 next month, demonstrates "strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function" and is "fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State."

Trump underwent the examination on Tuesday at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. After the visit, he posted on his Truth Social platform that

"everything checked out perfectly."

This marks his third documented health check since resuming office last year.

Detailed Medical Findings

The memo indicates that Trump, the oldest individual to assume the US presidency, scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a standard test for cognitive health, placing him "within normal limits."

Since his previous medical exam in April 2025, Trump has gained 14 pounds (6.3 kilograms). Barbabella noted that the president has received advice regarding diet, physical activity, and ongoing weight reduction.

Additionally, Trump's cardiac age was estimated to be approximately 14 years younger than his actual chronological age.

"His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being,"
Barbabella wrote.

Previous Health Concerns and Current Status

Last year, concerns arose due to bruised hands and swollen legs observed on the president.

In July, it was disclosed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a vein condition where leg veins inadequately pump blood back to the heart, causing blood to pool in the lower limbs and resulting in swelling.

While some "slight lower leg swelling" remains, Barbabella's memo noted there has been "improvement from last year."

The bruising on Trump's hands was attributed in the report to "minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking" and the use of aspirin for "cardiovascular prevention."

Barbabella explained that this bruising is "a common and benign effect of aspirin therapy."

Medications and Preventive Care

Alongside aspirin, the report stated that Trump is taking two cholesterol-lowering medications and remains current on all recommended preventive screenings and immunizations.

Although not mandatory, these annual medical evaluations have become customary in recent decades.

Context on Presidential Health Scrutiny

The health of former President Joe Biden, who was 78 at his inauguration in 2021, attracted significant public attention and scrutiny as his term progressed.
