Singer Bonnie Tyler has been placed into an induced coma to support her recovery after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery, according to a spokesperson for the artist.

The 74-year-old, originally from Skewen, Wales, was rushed to a hospital near her residence in Faro, Portugal, on Wednesday to undergo the urgent procedure and is currently recuperating.

"Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery," the spokesman stated on Thursday evening.
"We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to."
