Rock veteran Neil Young has announced the cancellation of his entire 2026 European tour, which includes a planned performance in Scotland this summer.

The 80-year-old Canadian-American singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform at the Glasgow Summer Sessions in Bellahouston Park on 29 June. However, he issued an apology to fans through a message posted on his official website, stating he had "decided to take a break."

Young's career spans more than 60 years, during which he has become a celebrated figure in rock music. Prior to this cancellation, he had announced a series of concerts across the UK and Europe.

Official Statement to Fans

On Friday, a message was posted on the Neil Young Archives website addressing ticket holders and fans:

"Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I'm sorry to let you down, but this is not the time."

Young was set to perform alongside his backing band, The Chrome Hearts, a group he began collaborating with in 2024.

"I do love playing live and being with you and The Chrome Hearts. Love, Neil. Be well."

Tour Details and Career Highlights

The tour was expected to commence in Cornwall in June and conclude the following month in Passariano, located in north-east Italy.

Throughout his extensive career, Neil Young has received numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards and nine Juno Awards. He has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice: first as a solo artist in 1995, and later in 1997 as a member of the rock band Buffalo Springfield.

Young is renowned for iconic songs such as "Cinnamon Girl," "Like A Hurricane," and "Rockin' In The Free World." In 2023, he headlined the Glastonbury Festival and performed at BST Hyde Park.
