It's Official: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Married
Taylor Swift's publicist has confirmed that the singer and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce were married at New York's Madison Square Garden on Friday.
Speculation about the wedding had been widespread since the couple announced their engagement via Instagram last August. Despite minimal public commentary from the pair, the booking of New York's largest indoor concert venue for an entire weekend fueled rumors.
The union represents more than a celebrity marriage; together, Swift and Kelce form one of the most influential couples in the United States, with a combined net worth nearing $2.2 billion (£1.6 billion). Their influence spans music, sports, film, podcasting, publishing, and television.
For Swift's fans, known as Swifties, this wedding is the culmination of a relationship that unfolded over two years. Below is a detailed timeline of their journey.
A Bumpy Start
Travis Kelce was first seen attending Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium on 8 July 2023. He watched from a private box but was also observed interacting with fans and exchanging friendship bracelets.
On his New Heights podcast, Kelce revealed he attempted to meet Swift personally but was declined as she was protecting her voice.
"If you're up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it," he said later that month. "I was a little butt-hurt I didn't get to hand her one."
The podcast clip went viral and caught Swift's attention. She later described the moment as feeling like "he was standing outside of my apartment, holding a boom box saying, 'I want to go on a date with you'."
Travis also described meeting Taylor to his brother, Jason, on the New Heights podcast.
Swift was seen watching from a suite alongside Donna Kelce, Travis's mother, as the Kansas City Chiefs played the Chicago Bears.

Going Public
Following the podcast, Swift received encouragement from various sources to pursue a relationship with Kelce and eventually agreed over the summer.
The couple publicly confirmed their relationship on 24 September when Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game, cheering alongside Kelce's mother, Donna. When Kelce scored a touchdown, Swift was caught on camera enthusiastically exclaiming, "Let's ****ing go!" The couple left the event together.
Swifties were surprised by the public nature of the announcement, as Swift typically maintains a high level of privacy regarding her personal life.
Shortly after, Kelce acknowledged the public appearance on his podcast, saying,
"Shoutout to Taylor for pulling up! That was pretty ballsy."
Two months later, in Argentina, Kelce attended the Eras Tour again. Swift made a notable change to the setlist in his honor, altering the lyric in the final song from "Karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me" to "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me." After the concert, the couple shared a kiss.

Temperature Rising
By early 2024, Swift had become more open about the relationship. In January, after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens to secure a Super Bowl spot, Swift ran onto the field to share a prolonged kiss with Kelce.
In February, she flew from a concert in Tokyo to attend the Super Bowl, where she again shared a kiss with Kelce after the Chiefs' victory.
Her attendance at games reportedly boosted viewership, particularly among female audiences.
In April, Swift's double album The Tortured Poets Department featured songs referencing the relationship. The track "The Alchemy" appeared to allude to their public displays of affection with the lyric,
"Where's the trophy? / He just comes running over to me."
Fans combined their names into the portmanteau "Tayvis."

Tayvis Hits London
In June 2024, Swift and Kelce made their Instagram relationship official with a backstage photo from the Eras Tour in London. The image included Prince William and his two eldest children, who attended the concert to celebrate William's 42nd birthday.
The following evening, Kelce appeared on stage as one of Swift's dancers. Wearing a top hat and tails, he carried Swift across the stage to a couch where she changed costumes before performing "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart." This was his only stage appearance during the 149-date tour, although he attended many shows across Europe before returning to the U.S. for the Kansas City Chiefs' training camp.
Kelce's brother Jason discussed the intense scrutiny the couple faces during an interview on Andrew Santino's Whiskey Ginger podcast, comparing it to his own marriage to Kylie Kelce.
"I think we have it bad, and then we go hang out with one of them for a second. This is a whole other situation here… Like, you can't be a normal person at that point."
He also noted Kelce's personal growth, saying,
"I haven't seen him change one bit. He stayed true to himself. He's still humble. He treats everyone with the utmost respect."

Engagement Announced
After a year of subtle hints and public acknowledgments, the couple confirmed their engagement with a joint Instagram post on 26 August 2025.
The caption read,
"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,"
accompanied by a firecracker emoji and photos of Kelce proposing in a Missouri garden.
According to U.S. reports, the engagement ring was purchased from Artifex Fine Jewelry, where prices start at approximately $29,000 (£21,500).
Kelce's father, Ed, told ABC News that the proposal occurred about two weeks before the announcement.
"He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, 'Let's go out and have a glass of wine'... they got out there, and that's when he asked her, and it was beautiful,"
he said. He added,
"They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great."

Wedding Rumors and Plans
Swift's 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, released in October 2025, included numerous romantic lyrics about Kelce. She reflected on date nights on Ferris wheels and envisioned raising children in a home with "a driveway with a basketball hoop." One song even references Kelce's anatomy.
During promotional interviews, Swift was asked about wedding details but revealed little, only telling the BBC's Graham Norton that it would not be a small event.
Following these interviews, Swift's team remained silent. A rumored wedding date of 13 June 2026 passed without event. Shortly after, activity at Swift's Rhode Island residence sparked speculation of a bachelorette party.
The New York Times later reported that Swift had reserved Madison Square Garden for a major event just before Independence Day weekend.
Officials familiar with the booking indicated plans for an intimate gathering of approximately 100 guests on Thursday, 2 July, followed by a larger celebration with about 1,000 attendees the next day.
Television crews documented trucks unloading drapes, lighting, food, and even a "40-inch mirror ball." While tabloids speculated on wedding performers, definitive details awaited Swift's announcement.
Swift's longtime publicist, Tree Paine, confirmed that the couple wore Dior for the ceremony, which was officiated by U.S. actor and comedian Adam Sandler.
The wedding did not include bridesmaids or groomsmen; however, Swift's brother Austin served as her Man of Honour, and Kelce's brother Jason was his Best Man.
Given Swift's recent visits to New York's Electric Lady recording studios, some speculate that a wedding song may be forthcoming.
