Sir Anthony Hopkins to Release Debut Album
Sir Anthony Hopkins, renowned for his role in The Silence of the Lambs, is set to release his first album next month. The collection features classical pieces he has composed over six decades.
The Oscar-winning actor revealed that he has been composing music throughout his life, stating that music was his initial passion and desire.
The first single from the album, titled Life Is A Dream, was released on Friday. This piece draws inspiration from his childhood memories of Margam in south Wales.
Born in Port Talbot, Wales, Hopkins began composing music as a child and started playing the piano at the age of four. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs.
Life Is A Dream is scheduled for release on 21 August.

Musical Inspirations and Compositions
The single Bracken Road from Hopkins' 1947: Suite For Solo Piano And Orchestra was inspired by the streets, meadows, farmland, and mountains surrounding his family home in the 1940s. Hopkins composed this piece in 1963 while working as a young actor at the Liverpool Playhouse.
"Some of these pieces have lived with me for decades and I still find myself returning to them," Sir Anthony said.
"My whole life is a dream," he added, describing his signing with the Decca Classics record label as "the honour of a lifetime."
The music on the album is performed by Grammy Award-winning conductor Gustavo Dudamel alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra. The compositions reflect Hopkins' life growing up in Wales and his family experiences.
"My deepest gratitude and respect go to Maestro Gustavo Dudamel, whose artistry is an integral part of this musical journey.
With the graceful precision of his baton, he transformed each note with profound and indelible meaning, creating a pictorial landscape that invites the listener to feel and imagine something uniquely personal."
Other pieces on the album draw from Hopkins' childhood visits with his grandfather and the cinema that first sparked his imagination.

Industry Praise and Personal Tributes
Laura Monks, president of Decca Classics, praised Sir Anthony's "depth of talent and classical music knowledge," calling it a joy to celebrate. She described hearing his music come to life during recording sessions as a "once in a lifetime experience" that they are eager to share with the world.
Hopkins continues to honor his Welsh heritage with the track My Fatherland. He wrote this piece to "honour my humble beginnings," adding,
"I am the son of my father, the baker."
Additional compositions on the album evoke memories of Port Talbot, childhood visits with his grandfather, the cinema that first captured his imagination, and the people closest to him.
