New Trailer Released for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey
A new full-length trailer has been unveiled for The Odyssey, marking the first film from director Christopher Nolan since his Oscar-winning Oppenheimer.
This cinematic adaptation brings to life Homer's ancient Greek epic poem, featuring Matt Damon as the legendary hero Odysseus. The story follows Odysseus's journey home from the Trojan War as he strives to reunite with his wife and son.
The film's cast also includes Anne Hathaway portraying Penelope, Odysseus's wife and Queen of Ithaca, alongside Tom Holland as their son, Prince Telemachus.

Robert Pattinson takes on the role of Antinous, the arrogant and ruthless antagonist who covets Queen Penelope during Odysseus's prolonged absence.

The latest trailer, released by Universal Studios, has generated considerable excitement by offering audiences a closer look at the Greek hero’s perilous and occasionally fantastical voyage.
Viewers are introduced to several other key characters, including the nymph Calypso, played by Charlize Theron; Odysseus's loyal servant Eumaeus, portrayed by John Leguizamo; and Jon Bernthal as Menelaus, the King of Sparta and brother to Agamemnon, who is played by Benny Safdie.
Additionally, the trailer provides a first glimpse of the man-eating cyclops Polyphemus, son of Poseidon, a formidable figure to watch as the narrative unfolds.
Christopher Nolan is recognized as one of Hollywood's most esteemed directors, with notable works such as Inception (2010), Interstellar (2014), The Dark Knight Trilogy, and Dunkirk (2017) to his credit.
His previous major project, Oppenheimer, garnered numerous Academy Awards in 2024, including Best Picture and Best Director.
The Odyssey, Nolan’s latest film, was shot entirely using IMAX cameras and reportedly had a production budget of $250 million (£185 million), making it his most expensive project to date.

The trailer showcases glimpses of intense battle scenes, treacherous sea voyages, and flashbacks to the Trojan War—the events originally depicted in the Iliad, the epic preceding the Odyssey.
"Help me go home,"
the voice of Odysseus pleads, after the King of Ithaca is first found washed up on a distant shore.
Penelope is later seen affirming,
"Ithaca's king is coming back,"
while Antinous, her primary suitor, remains skeptical.
Prince Telemachus expresses hope, stating,
"My dad is coming home,"
as his father’s household appears to have fallen into disorder and ruin during his two-decade absence.
Zendaya, Tom Holland’s real-life partner, portrays the goddess Athena in this mythological film. The cast also includes Himesh Patel as Eurylochus, Mia Goth as Melantho, and Jimmy Gonzales as Cepheus.
Additional cast members feature Lupita Nyong'o and Will Yun Lee.
The central question remains whether Odysseus will return in time to save his family and kingdom. The hero himself seems confident, declaring in the trailer,
"No-one can stand between me and home. Not even the Gods."
Following a pattern similar to Oppenheimer, which shared its 2023 release date with another major film, The Odyssey is scheduled to premiere on 17 July, coinciding with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
