Cardiff Bay Barrage Transforms City Waterfront
More than 25 years have passed since the £200m Cardiff Bay Barrage was officially opened to the public, marking a significant change for the city.
The area formerly known as Tiger Bay and the docks has been redeveloped into a major waterfront destination.
Completed in 2001, the project converted tidal mudflats located at the confluence of the rivers Taff and Ely into a 200-hectare freshwater lake, now called Cardiff Bay.
BBC Wales Boat Tour Highlights Transformation
BBC Wales's Pete Shuttleworth recently took a high-speed boat tour around the barrage, which serves as the barrier separating the freshwater lake from the Bristol Channel.
"You couldn't have done this 30 years ago, all this was just mud."
The video of the tour was filmed and edited by Greg Davies.
