Team Wales Expands to 115 Athletes for Commonwealth Games
Weightlifter Charlotte Whalley has been officially added to Team Wales for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow.
Initially, 114 athletes were announced as part of the squad last week. However, Whalley secured her place following the reallocation of a qualification spot.
The reallocation process is designed to allocate any unused qualification positions to the next highest-ranked eligible athletes who have met the required international performance standards.
"We are delighted to welcome Charlotte to Team Wales for Glasgow 2026," said chef de mission Gethin Jones.
"Her qualification is thoroughly deserved and is a testament to her consistency, commitment and performances throughout the qualification period.
Reaching 115 athletes is a significant milestone for Team Wales and demonstrates the strength and depth of talent we have across Welsh sport. We look forward to supporting Charlotte as she makes her debut on the world stage."
The Commonwealth Games will take place from 23 July to 2 August.
