Thunder Take Lead Over Lakers in Western Conference Semi-Finals

The Oklahoma City Thunder secured a 1-0 advantage against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Conference semi-finals. The defending champions, who hold the top seed in the Western Conference, began the best-of-seven series strongly with a 108-90 victory at home on Tuesday.

The Thunder showcased a well-rounded offensive effort while their defense limited the Lakers to their lowest playoff score since 2021. LeBron James led the Lakers with a game-high 27 points, while Chet Holmgren contributed 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Thunder.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the NBA's reigning Most Valuable Player, and Ajay Mitchell each added 18 points for Oklahoma City.

"You're playing the world champs, your margin for error in terms of mistakes is not that high," said Lakers head coach JJ Redick.

"[There were] just too many tonight. We've got to clean that up."

Lakers guard Luka Doncic remained sidelined with a hamstring injury and may also miss the second game scheduled for Thursday.

Pistons Edge Cavaliers in Eastern Conference Semi-Finals

The Detroit Pistons took an early lead in their series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, overcoming a late comeback attempt to win 111-101 at home. Cade Cunningham scored 23 points for the Eastern Conference's top seed Detroit, with Tobias Harris contributing 20 points.

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 23 points, while James Harden added 22 points but committed seven turnovers.
