Sinner Extends Consecutive Sets Win Streak at ATP Masters 1000
Jannik Sinner has extended his record for the most consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 events to 28 as he advanced to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open.
The Italian, ranked world number two, surpassed Novak Djokovic's decade-old record of 24 consecutive sets won on Monday. In his latest match, Sinner defeated American Alex Michelsen with a score of 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).
Four-time Grand Slam winner Sinner overcame a 5-2 deficit in the second set to secure his victory and set up a quarter-final clash with American 19th seed Frances Tiafoe.
Sinner has claimed the last two Masters 1000 titles, winning in Paris last November and Indian Wells earlier this month, without dropping a single set in either tournament.
As the 2024 Miami Open champion, Sinner remains the only former winner still competing in this year's tournament.
Following the third-round defeat of world number one Carlos Alcaraz by Sebastian Korda, Sinner is poised to narrow the ranking gap to the top spot.
