Sinner Advances to Miami Open Final with Victory Over Zverev
World number two Jannik Sinner secured his seventh consecutive win against Alexander Zverev, advancing to the Miami Open final for the fourth time. The Italian player triumphed with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) and is set to face Czech competitor Jiri Lehecka on Sunday.
Sinner aims to claim his second Miami title in three years and become the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to complete the 'Sunshine Double,' having won the Indian Wells tournament earlier this month.
The four-time Grand Slam champion and reigning Wimbledon winner recently defeated German world number four Zverev in the Indian Wells semifinals, marking his eighth win in 12 matches against the German player.
"It has been an incredible swing," said Sinner, who extended his winning streak to 16 matches in Masters 1,000 tournaments and his record of consecutive sets won to 32.
"I've been trying to play as many matches as possible and I couldn't do any better.
"Today was a very tough encounter. He played some incredible tennis, but I was serving very well, especially in the end and in the crucial moments.
"Standing here again, in the final, means very, very much to me."
Lehecka Reaches First Masters 1,000 Final
Earlier, 21st seed Jiri Lehecka defeated Frenchman Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 15 minutes to reach his first Masters 1,000 final.
"I'm very excited that I'm in a final," Lehecka said.
"At the same time, it's just a sport. There are more important things going on in the world right now.
"I'm just trying to do what I do best."
