Sinner Continues Impressive Winning Streak at Miami Open

Jannik Sinner has secured his 29th and 30th consecutive set wins at ATP Masters 1,000 events as he advanced comfortably past American Frances Tiafoe to reach the semi-finals of the Miami Open.

The Italian world number two, who recently surpassed Novak Djokovic's decade-old record of 24 consecutive sets won on Monday, took control early by breaking Tiafoe in the opening game and maintained dominance to win 6-2, 6-2 in 71 minutes.

Tiafoe, ranked world number 20, was unable to counter Sinner's commanding performance, with the Italian dropping only nine points on serve throughout the two sets.

Sinner, a four-time Grand Slam champion, will next face either Germany's world number four Alexander Zverev or Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo in the semi-finals.

"I felt like I was serving quite well in the important moments," Sinner said during a Sky Sports interview.

"I thought he might be a bit tired because he has had tough matches here, a couple of three-set matches, so I tried to make it physical in the beginning and that helped for sure."

The other semi-final matchup will feature France's Arthur Fils against Czech player Jiri Lehecka.

Sinner is striving to become the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to achieve the 'Sunshine Double' by winning both Indian Wells and the Miami Open in the same year.

At 24 years old, Sinner has reached the semi-finals in four of his five Miami Open appearances and secured the tournament title in 2024.
