Emma Raducanu Withdraws from Linz Open

Emma Raducanu, the 23-year-old British No 1, has confirmed her withdrawal from the upcoming Linz Open as she continues her recovery from illness. Her team has stated that she is prioritizing regaining full fitness before returning to competition.

Ongoing Recovery from Post-Viral Symptoms

Raducanu has been dealing with post-viral symptoms following an illness contracted in Romania in early February. These symptoms have delayed her comeback and have led her to also miss the Miami Open. Additionally, she opted out of Great Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup qualifier against Australia to focus on rehabilitation.

Her next potential return to the WTA Tour is expected to be at the Madrid Open later this month.

Recent Performance and Coaching Update

The last time Raducanu competed was on 8 March at Indian Wells, where she reached the third round before losing. After the match, she reflected on her performance, noting a lack of power as a contributing factor to her subdued display.

“I need to be aggressive when playing those players, but I think there’s still a long way to go to be doing that and I need to use my strengths and probably mix it up a bit more,” she said.

Since parting ways with her coach Francisco Roig in January, the 2021 US Open champion has been working informally with Mark Petchey as she aims to regain her form.
