Alcaraz Withdraws from French Open After Wrist Injury

Carlos Alcaraz has announced his withdrawal from the French Open following a wrist injury sustained during the first round of the Barcelona Open last week.

The Spanish player, who has secured the French Open title for the past two years, including an epic victory over Jannik Sinner in the 2023 Roland Garros final, was considered a strong contender to claim his third consecutive title in Paris this season. After finishing as runner-up to Sinner at the Monte Carlo Masters, Alcaraz competed in Barcelona two days later, where he injured his wrist in his opening match.

“After the results of the tests carried out today, we have decided that the most prudent thing to do is to be cautious and not participate in Rome or Roland Garros as we wait to evaluate the progress so we can decide when to return to the court,” said Alcaraz in a statement on social media. “This is a difficult time for me, but I am sure we will come out of it stronger.”

Alcaraz’s decision to withdraw comes as a precautionary measure to allow proper recovery and avoid aggravating the injury. The player and his team will monitor his progress closely before determining his return to competitive play.

Fans and followers can stay updated through official channels and continue to support Alcaraz during his recovery period.
