Cameron Norrie Eliminated from Barcelona Open by Rafael Jodar

Britain's Cameron Norrie, currently ranked 24th in the world, was defeated in the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open by Rafael Jodar in straight sets.

Jodar secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the seventh seed Norrie in 69 minutes, delivering an impressive performance on the clay courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona.

The 19-year-old Spaniard, who was ranked outside the world's Top 600 just a year ago, exchanged breaks with Norrie during the first five games before taking control of the opening set.

Norrie held his serve in the first two games of the second set, but at 2-2, Jodar appeared to elevate his game against the British number one.

"Cameron is always a tough opponent. I think I handled the important moments and the pressure moments in the match very well," said Jodar.
"I am very happy with my performance today, but I know I have to keep going. I have to keep pushing. There are still more matches to come."

This victory marked Jodar's third win over a top-30 player, following his previous victories against Norrie at the Mexican Open in February and American Learner Tien at the Next Gen ATP Finals.

Other British Players' Performances

Meanwhile, Katie Boulter's run to her first tour-level quarter-final on clay ended with a straight-sets loss to Veronika Podrez at the Open de Rouen.
