De Minaur Overcomes Mannarino in Straight Sets
Australian No. 1 Alex de Minaur secured a straight-sets victory against French veteran Adrian Mannarino on the fourth day of Wimbledon, as the sun shone and temperatures rose. De Minaur defeated the left-handed Mannarino 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in a match lasting one hour and 49 minutes on Thursday.

De Minaur claimed the first two sets in 38 minutes each, breaking Mannarino twice in the opening set and three times in the second. Despite some occasional issues with his own serve, which was broken once in each of the first two sets, particularly vulnerable on the second delivery, de Minaur maintained control throughout.
In the third set, de Minaur’s serve held firm, although he faced a challenging service game at 2-2 that extended to five deuces. He managed to hold serve and then broke Mannarino, who appeared deflated. From that point, the 38-year-old Frenchman was unable to mount a comeback. De Minaur held serve again and secured another break to love, effectively sealing the match.
Strong Australian Support and Improving Form
De Minaur received solid backing from the crowd on court 3, with fellow Australians Maya Joint and James Duckworth among the supporters. This encouragement coincided with a performance that was an improvement on his previous match against Roman Andres Burruchaga on the same court.
As the tournament progresses, de Minaur aims to continue improving, a goal he is currently achieving.
"I definitely think I started better, I had more intent, more conviction in what I needed to do,"
"I’m super stoked and super grateful to be playing some good tennis with some great weather here in London."
"I just love it here and I’m hoping I can stay here for a long time."
Next Round Prospects
De Minaur’s third-round opponent will be either Kamil Majchrzak or Zach Svajda. Majchrzak recently defeated de Minaur in the final at ’s-Hertogenbosch, marking the Pole’s first victory in three meetings. Svajda, an American, has never faced de Minaur before.
