Team GB's Four-Man Bobsleigh Medal Hopes
Team GB currently holds seventh place at the halfway point in the four-man bobsleigh event, facing a challenging path to secure an Olympic medal. Earlier, the British team finished 12th in the two-man bobsleigh event but remain focused on achieving a podium finish in the four-man competition.
Pilot Brad Hall demonstrated the team's medal potential with an impressive first run time of 54.39 seconds, placing them third after the initial heat. However, their performance declined in the second run, recording a time of 55.04 seconds, which was the 12th fastest in heat two. This resulted in the team dropping four positions in the overall standings ahead of the medal-deciding heats scheduled for Sunday.
The German teams continue to dominate the event, occupying the top three positions. Johannes Lochner, who secured gold in the two-man event earlier in the week, leads with a combined time of 1:48.61.
Competition at the Cortina sliding track experienced a significant delay during heat two due to a crash involving an Austrian athlete. The athlete received extended medical attention on the ice before being transported off the track on a stretcher. The delay lasted approximately 20 minutes.
Following the resumption of the event, the track conditions slowed due to rising temperatures. Consequently, the British team was unable to replicate the speed of their first run, currently holding a combined time of 1:49.43.
