Sheedy Commits Future to Cardiff
Fly-half Callum Sheedy has reaffirmed his commitment to Cardiff Rugby, expressing his determination to contribute to a successful era for the club. Since transferring from Bristol for the 2024-25 season, Sheedy has accumulated 168 points across 38 appearances.
"Playing at the Arms Park is the most special feeling. We have incredible supporters, they are close to the pitch and the atmosphere is electric," said Sheedy.
"To be able to connect with the fans and see how much passion they have is a massive driving factor both for myself and the wider group.
"I'm really excited by what the future holds."
The 30-year-old Wales international returned to his home club this season and is the latest player to sign a new contract with Cardiff, although the club has not disclosed the length of the deal.
Coach Praises Sheedy's Impact
Cardiff head coach Corniel van Zyl highlighted Sheedy's influence both on and off the field, emphasizing his leadership and rugby intelligence.
"He is quite a character and brings good energy to the group, while also managing the collective emotional levels.
His rugby IQ is next level, and he manages matches and the training week very well. His communication and leadership is first class and he continually works hard to improve his all-round game.
So he it's an important re-signing for the club and I am looking forward to seeing him continuing his journey in Blue and Black."
Cardiff's URC Play-Off Ambitions
Cardiff is aiming to qualify for the United Rugby Championship play-offs for the first time. With two matches remaining, they face Glasgow Warriors on Friday, 8 May, followed by a home game against the Stormers a week later.
