Saracens Secure Top Spot with Convincing Win Over Exeter Chiefs

Saracens have extended their winning streak to 10 matches following their sole defeat this season to Gloucester-Hartpury. They climbed to the summit of the Premiership Women's Rugby table after a commanding 45-7 victory against third-placed Exeter Chiefs, scoring seven tries in the process.

England international Poppy Cleall opened the scoring with two tries within the first 28 minutes. Her England teammates Marlie Packer and Kelsey Clifford added tries just before and after halftime, respectively. In the second half, Canadian players Alysha Corrigan and Julia Omokhuale, along with England Under-20s scrum-half Tori Sellors, also crossed the try line for Saracens.

Exeter's Hope Rogers managed a late consolation try in the 84th minute, preventing a shutout for the Chiefs.

The victory allowed Saracens to overtake Gloucester-Hartpury on points difference, despite having played one more game than the defending champions, who are currently on their bye week.

Premiership Women's Rugby Table Update

Elsewhere on Saturday, Sale Sharks advanced to sixth place after a narrow 15-12 win over Harlequins. Canada winger Asia Hogan-Rochester made her first start for Sale in this match.

Sale's points came from tries by Scotland wing Rhona Lloyd and England forward Amy Cokayne, complemented by a penalty from Lizzie Duffy. Despite tries from Spaniard Claudia Pena and Scotland's Jade Konkel for Harlequins, Sale held on to secure the victory.

This result reduced Harlequins' lead in the final play-off spot to just one point over fifth-placed Trailfinders. Earlier in the day, Harlequins had recorded a dominant win against bottom club Leicester Tigers.

Trailfinders themselves scored six tries in their 40-19 triumph, with prop Cassandra Tuffnail crossing twice and full-back Niamh Gallagher contributing 10 points from kicks in addition to her first-half try.

Leicester Tigers have now lost all 10 matches this season, extending a difficult run that has seen them win only three games since the start of last season.
