Saracens Edge Bristol Bears with Late Penalty
England fly-half Zoe Harrison, known for her pivotal role in last year's Women's Rugby World Cup final against Canada where she kicked eight points, delivered a crucial late long-range penalty to secure a 36-33 victory for Saracens over Bristol Bears at StoneX Stadium.
Saracens established a strong 26-12 lead by halftime, thanks to tries from Millie Whizz, New Zealand international Ruahei Demant, and England prop Sarah Bern, who scored twice.
Despite this, Bristol fought back with two tries from hooker May Campbell and one from Olivia Apps, allowing them to retake the lead. The Bears then leveled the match after Keira Bevan successfully converted her own try.
However, Harrison demonstrated her composure and skill by confidently slotting a penalty in the 79th minute, underscoring her status as England's World Cup-winning starting fly-half.
This win enabled Saracens to maintain pressure on the Premiership Rugby Women's league leaders Gloucester-Hartpury, while Bristol remains second from bottom in the standings.
Exeter Chiefs Triumph Over Loughborough Lightning
In another Premiership Rugby Women's fixture on Sunday, Exeter Chiefs defeated Loughborough Lightning 26-5 at Sandy Park.
First-half tries were scored by Francesca Granzotto, Amy Rule, and Hope Rogers for Exeter. Ireland's Dorothy Wall secured the vital bonus-point try in the final play of the match.
This victory propelled Exeter into third place in the league table, surpassing Harlequins, who suffered a loss to Gloucester-Hartpury on Saturday.
