Tries for England were scored by Sonny Tonga'uiha, Jimmy Staples, and Victor Worsnip, with conversions by Luke Davidson and Ben Pater. For Wales, Steffan Emanuel scored a try, while Carwyn Leggatt-Jones contributed with a conversion and three penalties.

In challenging muddy conditions at Northampton, England staged an impressive second-half comeback to open their Under-20 Six Nations campaign with a victory over Wales.

Wales held a 16-0 lead at halftime, largely driven by fly-half Carwyn Leggatt-Jones, who successfully kicked three penalties and executed a quick-thinking grubber kick that was grounded by Steffan Emanuel.

England began their response five minutes after the break when substitute Sonny Tonga'uiha powered over for a try.

Six minutes later, Harlequins' Jimmy Staples narrowed the gap to 16-12 by diving over the line following a line-out.

However, as momentum started to shift in England's favor, the home side was reduced to 14 players.

Referee Luke Rogan issued a 20-minute red card to Luke Davidson after he made contact with the head of Leggatt-Jones using his shoulder while the fly-half was awaiting a high kick to land.

Despite Wales enjoying a period of territorial advantage late in the match, they failed to capitalize on their numerical superiority. England completed their comeback in the 75th minute when replacement Victor Worsnip scored from close range.

This victory served as retribution for England following their defeat by Wales in the final game of the previous year's tournament, which denied England a Grand Slam and handed the title to France.

"It's a different group from last year, it's great to play with the lads. We're a good, tight group," said England scrum-half Lucas Friday after the win.
"It was a tough first half, the conditions weren't great. We knew we had to be better game management-wise in the second half.
"I think in the first half we didn't play in the right areas, the conditions didn't want that. In the second half we kicked into the corners, put pressure on them."
