Rosie Galligan to Rejoin Harlequins After Saracens Stint

Rosie Galligan, a World Cup-winning England lock with 31 Test caps, will leave Saracens and rejoin Harlequins at the conclusion of the current season. The 28-year-old is currently on a break from rugby as she is expecting to give birth in October.

Her partner, Marlie Packer, who is also an England forward, has already confirmed her move from Saracens to Harlequins.

Galligan initially played for Harlequins between 2021 and 2023, following a successful period at Saracens where she won two titles. Upon returning to Saracens, she made over 50 appearances for the club.

Galligan will observe her Saracens teammates as they conclude their season on 28 June in the Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) play-off final against Trailfinders. Subsequently, she will transition back to Harlequins.

"I'd always thought that I'd be back at some point, and it just feels right," Galligan said on Harlequins' official website. "I absolutely love what [head coach] Ross [Chisholm] is about. I think he brings great charisma and culture to the team and is a phenomenal coach.
"I'm also really excited to work with Damian Welch as a forwards coach. He's got some quality attributes I'd really like to learn from."

Coach Ross Chisholm Welcomes Galligan's Return

Harlequins head coach Ross Chisholm expressed enthusiasm about Galligan's return, highlighting her development since her previous tenure with the club.

"Since she last wore a Harlequins jersey, Rosie has taken her game to another level and become not just a World Cup winner, but a truly world-class second row.
"We're also delighted to be a part of her journey as she prepares to become a mum for the first time and know that she is going to bring a huge amount of value and rugby IQ to our programme.
"Off the field, she is a player that will drive standards within the environment and on the field, she is a player that I know will give everything she has for the shirt.
"I'm really excited to see Rosie back wearing the quarters."
