Tribute Following Fan's Passing at Edinburgh Rugby Match
Edinburgh Rugby has expressed its condolences after a fan suffered a medical emergency and died during the United Rugby Championship match against Ulster on Friday.
Emergency services were summoned shortly before the 19:45 kickoff at the Hive Stadium in Edinburgh, where the match took place.
Douglas Struth, the club's managing director, stated that despite the "valiant efforts of first responders," the fan passed away shortly before halftime.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with their family and friends at this difficult time."
The match experienced a delay to allow emergency teams to provide assistance at the Hive Stadium, located next to Murrayfield.
Supporters seated in the main stand were requested to remain in their seats during the first half to ensure clear access for emergency crews.
Edinburgh Rugby ultimately lost the game with a score of 19-40.
Douglas Struth also expressed gratitude to all parties involved, saying:
"We would like to thank all involved, the emergency services, Ulster Rugby, and our supporters for their hard work, patience and understanding on the night."
