Birmingham Panthers Secure Victory to Avoid Last Place
Birmingham Panthers secured a decisive 67-43 victory over Leeds Rhinos, ensuring they did not finish at the bottom of the Netball Super League standings.
In the final match of the season, the losing team was destined to finish last in the eight-team league.
The Panthers established an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 17-11, and extended their advantage to 31-18 by halftime.
Leading 37-19, the Panthers appeared in control, although the Rhinos narrowed the gap to 12 points briefly.
However, the visitors quickly regained momentum, pulling away again. Betsy Creak contributed significantly, scoring 49 goals.
This win marked only the Panthers' third league victory of the season, but they concluded with consecutive wins after narrowly defeating London Mavericks 52-51 on Sunday.
The Rhinos had started their campaign with a 54-39 away win against the Panthers in February, which remained their sole league victory for the year.
