Pacquiao and Mayweather Confirm September Rematch
Boxing legends Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have agreed to a professional rematch scheduled for September.
Pacquiao, aged 47, and Mayweather, 48, will face off at the Sphere in Las Vegas on Saturday, 19 September. The fight will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Mayweather, a former world champion, announced last week that he would come out of retirement for the fourth time.
This will mark Mayweather's first professional fight since his 10th-round technical knockout victory over mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor in 2017.
Pacquiao, an eight-weight world champion, retired from boxing in 2021 to focus on his political career but returned to the ring last July to fight WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. The bout ended in a draw, allowing Barrios to retain his title.
History of the Rivalry
Mayweather and Pacquiao first met in 2015 in a bout promoted as the 'Fight of the Century'.
Mayweather won the match by a wide unanimous decision in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao said: "Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history.
"The fans have waited long enough. They deserve this rematch.
"I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him."
Mayweather said: "I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result."
Additional Information
The rematch has generated significant anticipation given the stature of both fighters and their previous encounter.
Fans can look forward to the event on 19 September at the Sphere in Las Vegas, with live coverage available on Netflix.
