Suni Lee Announces Return to Gymnastics
Six-time Olympic medallist Suni Lee has declared her return to competitive gymnastics after a hiatus since the 2024 Olympics.
The 23-year-old athlete secured team gold with the USA in Paris, along with individual bronzes in the all-around and uneven bars events.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Lee earned all-around gold, team silver, and an uneven bars bronze medal.
Her comeback was revealed through a video posted on Instagram, marking her return two years ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
"I'm back,"
she said in a voiceover.
"I know what I'm capable of. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Back in the gym. We'll see."
The video concludes with the message: "This is more than a comeback, stay tuned."
In 2021, Lee participated in the television show Dancing with the Stars. In 2023, she was diagnosed with a chronic kidney disease.
Fellow American gymnast Jade Carey, who also earned medals at Tokyo and Paris, recently returned to competition following a similar break.
