Michael Gomez Jr Defeats Lee McGregor in Doncaster
Michael Gomez Jr left Lee McGregor battered and bruised after a controversial lightweight bout in Doncaster. The fight was stopped after six rounds, with Gomez Jr emerging victorious.
Before the contest began, Manchester's Gomez Jr appeared to motion towards a head butt against his 29-year-old opponent in the ring.
McGregor had been aiming to rebuild his career following a devastating knockout loss to fellow Scot Nathaniel Collins a year earlier. Additionally, he had hoped to enjoy a day of double celebration as his favorite football team, Heart of Midlothian, faced Celtic in a Scottish Premiership title match.
However, hours after Celtic secured the title with a 3-1 victory, Gomez Jr ended McGregor's aspirations with a flurry of punches midway through the scheduled 12-round fight.
