Clayton Triumphs in Premier League Darts Night Three in Glasgow
Jonny Clayton, the 2021 Premier League champion and semi-finalist in both 2022 and 2023, delivered a commanding performance to secure victory on night three of the Premier League Darts season held in Glasgow.
The Welsh player decisively defeated Gian van Veen 6-2, becoming the third different winner of the season. Returning to the tournament after a two-year absence, Clayton continued his strong form in 2026 by overcoming the world number three.
Clayton began the evening by ending a nearly three-year and 10-match losing streak against fellow Welshman Gerwyn Price. He then dominated world number one Luke Littler with a 6-1 win in the semi-finals.
Throughout these matches, Clayton maintained impressive averages of 99.88 and 101.33, respectively. However, his checkout percentages were particularly notable, achieving 60% and 66.67% in those rounds.
Although his checkout rate decreased to 42.86% in the final, his scoring average rose to 104.35. This performance places him alongside Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen as night winners this season.
In the final against Van Veen, Clayton secured an early break in the opening leg and another in the seventh. He clinched the victory with a remarkable 156 checkout.
This win propels Clayton to the top of the early Premier League standings, ahead of Michael van Gerwen, who missed the night due to illness, and Gian van Veen, who has now been runner-up in two finals this season.

Premier League Darts Format and Points System
The Premier League Darts competition consists of 16 initial weeks during the league stage, with quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final held each night.
Each of the eight players faces the other seven in the quarter-finals during weeks one to seven and nine to fifteen. Weeks eight and sixteen feature fixtures arranged off the table. This schedule ensures a fourth versus fifth matchup in Sheffield on the final league-stage night, potentially deciding playoff positions.
Players earn two points for each quarter-final win, an additional point for a semi-final victory, and five points for winning the night.
The top four players after the group stage advance to the playoff night at London's O2 Arena on 23 May. The semifinals are best-of-19-leg matches with first facing fourth and second playing third. The final is contested over the best of 21 legs.
If players are tied on points after the 16 weeks, rankings are determined by the number of nights won, followed by the number of matches won.
