Humphries & Price Confirm Premier League Play-Off Qualifications

Defending champion Luke Humphries has reached three consecutive night finals, securing his place in the Premier League play-offs.

Humphries defeated Gerwyn Price to claim his first night victory of the Premier League season, with both players confirming their spots in the play-offs during the event in Birmingham.

In his third straight night final, Humphries overcame the Welshman 6-4, following a commanding 6-0 win over Stephen Bunting and a 6-3 comeback victory against Luke Littler.

The 31-year-old displayed outstanding form, averaging 107 and 111 in earlier rounds, and maintaining a 100-plus average in the final.

This achievement guarantees Humphries a place at the finals night on 28 May for the third consecutive year, marking a remarkable period for the world number two.

After week 10, Humphries was seventh in the eight-player table and, prior to his run to the week 13 final, he was five points behind fourth place.

He is now assured of finishing at least fourth and enters the final league phase night in Sheffield on 21 May level on points with third-placed Price.

"It's been a struggle this year," Humphries told Sky Sports.
"I worked incredibly hard, I changed back to my old flights and it worked. I'm proud of myself.
"It's easy when you're winning, but it shows true grit to come from my position to then get through and win it tonight.
"I'm just incredibly proud of myself. Probably the most proud I've been in my life."

Gilding secured his first ProTour title at his 442nd attempt.

Price had appeared comfortable after securing a second nightly win in Manchester during week nine, but four defeats in five quarter-finals meant he still had work to do.

He had a slow start on Thursday against Michael van Gerwen but recovered well, and his victory over Gian van Veen confirmed his place at the O2 Arena.

Consequently, seven-time winner Van Gerwen misses out on the play-offs for only the third time in his career, exiting during the league phase for the second consecutive year.

Littler is guaranteed to finish top and will face the player finishing fourth, while Jonny Clayton, assured of second place, will play the third-placed player.

Littler will also be aiming for a record-breaking seventh night win in Sheffield.
