Gerwyn Price Achieves Milestone with European Tour Victory
Gerwyn Price has become only the second player to reach double figures in European Tour titles after winning the Grand Prix in Germany.
The world champion defeated Ross Smith 8-6 in the final held at the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen, securing the tenth European Tour title of his career.
"I've been in the PDC for 12 years now, so less than one a year on average isn't very good," joked the 41-year-old Price.
On his path to the final, the Welsh number two overcame Dave Chisnall, Chris Dobey, Martin Schindler, and Wessel Nijman. He clinched the final with a 14-dart hold.
"I was 3-0 up, then 4-3 down, and Ross started smashing the trebles in for fun. I was hanging on and hoping I got more opportunities, and I did," said Price, who had lost in the final on his only other European Tour appearance this year.
"I was just struggling to get over the winning line. I lost in the last European Tour final that I played in," he added.
"Thankfully I won this one, and hopefully it will give me a bit of confidence going forward."
The only other player to have reached double figures in European Tour trophies is Dutchman Michael van Gerwen.
