GB Misses Out on Bobsleigh Medal

Great Britain's aspirations for a podium finish in the bobsleigh event at the Winter Olympics were already limited following day one of the competition.

Team GB concluded their bobsleigh campaign with a seventh-place finish in the four-man bob event. Piloted by Brad Hall, the team had set their sights on winning a medal at Milan-Cortina but faced a challenging situation after being positioned seventh in the standings after the first day.

Securing a podium spot would have necessitated two exceptional runs along with errors from some leading competitors. Although their third heat time of 54.66 seconds was commendable, it ultimately fell short of what was needed.

Entering the final run tied with Switzerland in sixth place, Hall was unable to increase their pace sufficiently to surpass them. The final run time of 55.03 seconds resulted in an overall time of 3:39.12, which was 0.48 seconds behind the bronze medal position.

Germany came close to achieving a podium clean sweep, marking their second such feat of the week following the two-man event. However, Switzerland unexpectedly secured the bronze medal.

Johannes Lochner led Germany to the gold medal, completing the two and four-man double, while the silver medal was claimed by the team led by the renowned Francesco Friedrich.
