Wales Suffer Injury Setback Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers
Wales have encountered a significant injury setback ahead of this month's World Cup qualifying matches against Albania, with Ceri Holland ruled out of both fixtures due to injury.
The Football Association of Wales has confirmed that Holland, a key player in Rhian Wilkinson's squad, has withdrawn from the team owing to an unspecified injury. Newcastle United defender Lois Joel has also been withdrawn for similar reasons.
The versatile 28-year-old Holland was absent from Liverpool's Women's FA Cup quarter-final victory over Charlton on Sunday.
In response to these withdrawals, Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson has called up forward Olivia Francis to join the squad.
Upcoming Fixtures
Wales are scheduled to face Albania at Wrexham's Stok Cae Ras stadium on Tuesday, 14 April, with kickoff at 19:15 BST. The return match will take place four days later at the Elbasan Arena in Elbasan, starting at 17:00 BST.
