1. France – Have appeared unbeatable in this tournament so far. Their attack is fearsome, with Kylian Mbappe displaying top form. They are the team to beat.
2. Spain – Quietly effective. After a surprising 0-0 draw against Cape Verde in their opening match, Spain has steadily improved and appears to have more to offer.
3. Argentina – Led by Lionel Messi, whose influence is undeniable. Despite a significant scare against Cape Verde, they secured a 3-2 victory in the last 32 and have looked very impressive.
4. Brazil – Not widely discussed before the tournament, but under Carlo Ancelotti's guidance, they have found rhythm. With Vinicius Jr in fine form, they remain strong contenders.
5. Netherlands – Semi-finalists four years ago and seem capable of a deep run again. They will present a tough challenge to any opponent.
6. Colombia – One of the most exciting teams so far, full of pace and dynamism, with Luis Diaz adding a touch of brilliance.
7. England – Explosive in attack and solid defensively. They have had a favorable draw but will face significant tests ahead.
8. Croatia – Delivered an impressive second half in their opener against Croatia, winning 4-2, but have struggled to maintain that level since. Their job is done but improvement is needed.
9. Norway – Possibly underrated in this ranking. Erling Haaland remains prolific, supported by a capable team. Their play is solid rather than spectacular.
10. United States – Football enthusiasm is growing in the US, one of the co-hosts. They are an organized side but may lack the decisive X-factor.
11. Portugal – Have not yet found their rhythm in this tournament but remain in contention. Their players are still capable of moments of magic.
12. Switzerland – Celebrated their first World Cup knockout win since 1938. Their tournament has been smooth so far, but Colombia will pose a significant challenge.
13. Egypt – Success depends heavily on Mohamed Salah's performance if they are to advance further.
14. Tunisia – Were outplayed by Senegal for much of the last 32 match but managed a remarkable comeback from two goals down to win 3-2. Significant improvement will be necessary to progress.
15. Senegal – May have already surpassed expectations. The competition will become more difficult from this stage onward.
16. Japan – Produced one of the tournament's biggest upsets by defeating Germany. However, advancing further may prove challenging.
