Tavernier Eyes Title to Cap Rangers Career

James Tavernier, Rangers captain and right-back, has scored 13 goals in 49 appearances this season. Danny Rohl, the Rangers interim manager, expressed hope that Tavernier can conclude his 11-year tenure at Ibrox with a triumphant Scottish Premiership title win.

The 34-year-old defender announced on Wednesday that he will leave the club this summer after more than a decade of service. Tavernier has been instrumental in Rangers' recent successes, including leading the team to the league title in 2021 and securing both the Scottish Cup and League Cup once each.

With five fixtures remaining after the league split, Rangers are currently one point behind leaders Hearts and hold a two-point advantage over Celtic.

Rohl Reflects on Tavernier's Impact and Departure

Speaking about Tavernier's upcoming exit, Rohl said:

"It's a big one, big news for you, for us, for the club, for the fans. Since I have been here he has been a good captain, he leads the group on and off the pitch. He's a legend of the club and has made an amazing career here. He saw all the good moments. He's also saw some not so good moments and hopefully at the end of the season he can see again a beautiful moment. For big players should have also have a big goodbye, and the biggest goodbye would be going with a title."

Captain Tavernier to Leave After 11 Years

Tavernier disclosed his decision to move on just two days after indicating he would wait until the season's end to finalize his plans. When asked if he would have preferred Tavernier to remain for the next season, Rohl responded:

"That's not a topic for today. He made the final decision. We were very clear on our process. We said, if the time is right, we will speak about him. He gave me the information before it came out. It was very fair from him. He spoke to the group and I think the most important thing is now, you have 21 days to go. Five games, focus on these five games, and then you will have an incredible goodbye, what he deserves, and this is all that is important for me, for us, for the group, focus to what happens now."

Injury Updates Ahead of Motherwell Match

For Sunday's home game against Motherwell, Tuur Rommens and Ryan Naderi remain sidelined due to injuries. However, Rohl indicated that both players could be available for the final four games of the season.
