Phil Parkinson to Receive Freedom of Wrexham
Phil Parkinson's Wrexham are currently seventh in the Championship.
Phil Parkinson will officially receive the Freedom of the Wrexham County Borough today.
The Wrexham manager has overseen three successive promotions since taking charge of the north Wales club in the summer of 2021.
Following the Red Dragons' promotion into the Championship last year, councillors unanimously voted in favour of Parkinson being awarded this honour.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Parkinson told Wales:
"It's an amazing honour for myself and my family to be given that award and I look forward to going down there on Tuesday.
One of the key parts of this job and being part of this story over the last five years is the impact on the local community.
I've enjoyed being a part of that and meeting people in the business world around the town and it's a real honour for me to be down there on Tuesday."
Parkinson will sign official documents at Wrexham Guildhall in a ceremony scheduled for 15:00 BST.
Parkinson's Role in Wrexham's Rise
Parkinson joined Wrexham just five months after the club was taken over by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
He has been central to the Red Dragons' ascent from the fifth tier National League to the second tier Championship.
Parkinson is also a prominent figure in the club's highly successful documentary series Welcome To Wrexham, which has been renewed for at least three more seasons beyond the current campaign.
Current Championship Campaign
Despite consecutive defeats against Southampton and Birmingham City, Wrexham remain in contention for a play-off spot this season.
The team currently sits seventh in the Championship table, four points behind the top six with four matches remaining.
